lol dude, ive been a TCCA memeber since 2005 or 2004.

as many of us say, the ax4n > ax4s but not much

EDIT: i have the vulcan, no duratec, it was a random happening.
i read that the EPC (electronic pressure control) couldve just crapped out.
becaue i've driven this car at full WOT. I use this car to deliver food, and sometimes i need to get in front of a slow snail.

After my Focus' tranny disintegrated on the highway, the trans place I took it to said that the trans in the Taurus was pretty flakey, and it was the first Focus he'd seen in the shop.

Aside from hearing what sounds like screws in a blender when your tranny went, it sounds like what happened with my Focus. Drive and reverse acted like neutral until it red-lined for a second, then it would catch and throw the car forward about 5-10', then the wheels would lock and you'd have to start over. The tow truck guy didn't believe me until he tried to put it up on the flatbed.

Repair on mine was pretty bad as it chewed up all the gears but second and cracked the case.

Good to see an old member lol. I haven't been on there since the server change. My profle got lost and that also when my tranny blew and I abandoned the forum(was a sad day, great forum). Ya the pressure valve in the ax4s is made of aluminum, which isn't good seeing as that tranny tends to run a little hot. It is the most common failure. Also an expensive repair, depends on the shop. It should be replaced with a steel one, I don't believe aluminum ones are available anymore. It also doesn't help that the vulcan was originally designed for the Ranger then sloppily mated to the ax4s. The ax4n was properly designed to handle the vulcan power. Isn't much on today's standards but more than enough to get it moving quick like.
