Way better. Probably netted me a 2-3mpg per tank gain this last winter. Helps more on shorter trips than long commutes obviously. It is also thermostatically controlled and I am considering running it year round as the starts are much smoother with engine already close to NOT. Also has the added benefit of slower heating cycle and reduced thermal stress on engine components.
