Tesla S

Didn't see this anywhere yet, but I found this:

on Wired. [LINK]

Not a bad photoshop and I like what it could be. Too bad it'll be > $50k.

Hi,

There are at least two things that jump out at me, that are anti-efficient:

The wheels are way too open, and worse yet, they "point" in the wrong direction. They will "scoop" air into the wheel, and cause all sorts of turbulence.

Secondly, the rear spoiler lip angles upward, which will cause drag.

Agreed about the wheels, but if the spoiler corrects an otherwise less than ideal backlight slope, it may improve drag vs. without one. (But then it'd just be a band-aid for an initially less than ideal shape, as are VG's in other applications.)

But... the rear of the car hasn't been shown yet, as far as I know, so that's a pretty speculative area on the part of the Photoshopper.

I drove by the original Tesla parked in Santa Cruz the other day. I thought "that is a funny looking Corvette" then it dawned on me what it was. Went around the block; then sure enough- it was a Tesla. Sure did take a long time to get here! Must be about 10 EVs in this area now, not including electric bikes/tandems/trikes.

I think that's a fisker, not a tesla. Could be wrong.

Could be right about the photo above, but the one I mentioned seeing was one of the first metallic blue 2 door topless Teslas.

Here's a fisker karma for a comparison.

It's a little different.

The image is a Photoshop speculation from Wired.com. Behold the Tesla Model S | Autopia from Wired.com It's based on two separate teaser images from Tesla and the Fisker Karma. The actual Tesla S may (?probably?) be different.

FWIW,
Tim

Seems to be different all right! This is the latest... (Geneva show):

autoblitz: Tesla debuts zippier Roadster Sport

Front page of the local newspaper lamenting full tankers of oil with no one wanting the oil; NOW this might be why. Everyone knew about this design except me, so everyone else will have a Tesla
