Well, it is kinda the opposite. It has the potential to displace miserable chickens, until some bored engineer decides that they need to engineer intelligence for synthmeat.

There was a doctor somewhere that was doing Lipo, converting the human waste fat into fuel. He lives in South America now... probably not by choice, but apparently, South America won't extradite. (Hint, hint.)

I keep waiting for this to happen. It seems to me that this is like monoculture forestry, where a single-style protein/meat will be vulnerable to infection.
