Yes, Toyota made a plug in Prius beginning in model year 2012 that goes 11 miles on electric only, at speeds under 62 MPH.

The Plugin Prius can get higher highway mileage, if there are hills involved. I got 65MPG in a regular 3rd gen Prius, while a friend got 75MPG average on a 580 mile trip in western MA, VT, and upstate NY.

BCers used to get a $5000 rebate until funds dried up in spring. Now we get zero. I wouldn't even consider a Leaf without the rebate. With the rebate I would go for it in a second.
And that makes me mad.
I recall the test drive I had in one - there were five of us jammed into it (including my daughter in her ginormous car seat) and it handled it no sweat.

Porperty tax, county sticker, insurance = $900
Sentra = $275

It's just getting too expensive to save $100 a month in fuel costs. Wife loosing sleep getting, grumpy, no thanks, but she loves the Sentra, she hated a month ago.

Wait another 3 years and buy it for $10k, with an overmile charge on the lease. They will be popping up as they come off leases.

The Leaf makes perfect sense for us and she wants her SUV. If the Sentra
has another 24k in two years before it expires, it's worth the same amount.

Good reasoning here. Be patient and buy one cheap later. The Sentra will work until then.

It's funny though. Every word here about your wife describes mine exactly. It drives me nuts. You seem to deal with the quirks more easily, I suppose age does that. We've only been married 7+ years.

There is a 2011 used about 40 miles away, asking $12995. LOL, it aint over yet. The Fiesta and truck netted me $9200. I can buy that with cash and sell two bikes and the Sentra and come close to an even trade, but I'll keep the Sentra and use it for longer trips where it will do 40 MPG.

Might offer them $11995 after seeing how much range it has left and what chargers come with it. Cut the taxes in half and the insurance in half as well without collision.

I don't know about "dealing with the quirks" all that well. 25 years here. It takes her a while to come around. LOL, I told her "I don't even need to hypermile that car".

Little does she know compared to what she thinks she knows.

Think of the guy who always laughs about the joke a minute later on the show on the rocks.

I threaten my wife all the time with getting an EV. "I want to plug in my car". My wife rolls her eyes and says she refuses to plug in a car. Too much hassle.

I point out that it's a big hassle to visit a gas station, but she is used to doing that already.

We'll eventually get an EV, and she will wonder why we didn't do it sooner.

All of these describe my marriage, but it only lasted three years.

Letting go of the bikes might be ameliorated with one of these:
