In 79 Nissan went to the 280zx a fat version of the 280z / 240z, The 240z started life @2355 lbs, and gained weight and power until the 280zx when it weighed 2900+ lbs as a 2+2.

I think only the 2+2 had the bloat.
For some reason I hit 79 when I mean 73. Fixed that in my post - good looking out!

Mine would be:
1) Audi R8
2) Ford Mustang
3) BMW X5
Not particularly in the order they are in but these cars are on my wish list...

My answer would be different every day. Today, make it (in no particular order)...
2006 Subaru Impreza STI Sedan (had the Evo instead in '03-'04)
1993 Civic VX (found one that was "like new" a couple years ago -- it sold quickly)
New Car Pick:
I drive a bunch of different rentals ranging from performance, luxury, average, and cheap-O. Of the lot this year, I really like the new Jetta (I haven't driven the previous generation, so yes, I don't know what I'm missing -- so put the diesel in there with a stick, and I'd love to own one:
2012 VW Jetta Diesel Sedan
Tomorrow? It depends how much Mecum Auction coverage I've DVR'd. I always liked the late 60's / early 70's "executive hot rods" from Buick and Olds: ('70 Gran Sport 455 Stage-1, '70 Cutlass 442 W-30).
Realistically, I needed all-wheel drive in the mid-to-late 90's, so for the price in those days, I should have considered an Eclipse GSX with winter tires.
