what I find interesting is,their is so much loss of power try to overcome air resistance, the body [we always try to keep it light] weight gets a free ride.Anybody else observe that,Craig Vetter mentioned something to the same.Good luck with the project.

You are right but it's always a compromise.

Thing is a car is 4 to 7 times the weight of a bike plus rider yet the FE of a car is good compared to that of bike, not even mentionningits ability to carry more stuff and people ...

This means SCx is number one on the list (second comes engine efficiency).

another thing to factor in is the frontal area. A sport motorcycle with a Cd of .5 might have a FA of 6sqft making for a CdA of 3 whereas a sedan with a Cd of .3 might have a FA of 25 sq ft for a CdA of 7.5. this is one reason the sport bike has a higher FE potential. even a small cruiser with a Cd of 1.0 would have similar CdA to a typical car.

+1

Rounding off the front edges of that fill-in piece will likely give a small benefit as well and allow smoother airflow after the gap behind the rider's legs. That or filling said gap completely with the fill-in piece.

And so it seems you've already got that one covered ;-)

Yes, the windshield will need to come to shoulder height. The rear should taper from the passenger's shoulder. Note Alan Smith's addition of the helmet fairing on his newest tail design. As they say in the movies, "Happy wife, happy life."

did some finishing work on the fairing this week, still need to do some tweaking on the cooling, and make a filler piece for the back seat.
