Never really tried this, but I once left a cooler full of ice in my old Cadillac. The inside of that car was much lower temp than normal. I remember getting into it on a summer afternoon, expecting a HOT car. It was almost cool.

It was a very very old Coleman (think poor cold holding) but the lid was on.

Not tried it, but I’ve thought about hooking a solar panel straight up to the hvac fan to see if it would run it any time it gets sun...

Park the boot towards the sun, so the seats and steering wheel are in the shade.
Do the opposite during winter

I once bought a car shade that went over the cabin, covered the windshield and side windows, and strapped to the wheels. It definitely worked, but was a hassle, and wore out quickly.

I just deal with the heat. I take my shirt off if it gets too hot. Having a white car with a light interior definitely helps, as does having an all windows down feature using the key fob. Lower all the windows as you are walking up to the car, it makes getting in after sitting in the sun much more bearable.

Something interesting I saw recently was pretty much a dashboard carpet, lightly colored I imagine it could reduce interior heat quite a bit. It just has to be sized correctly as to not block any airbags.

I drove my Volvo P1800 around quite a bit last summer. I even did a 180 mile trip in July to the beach. WING WINDOWS. My god, without wing windows, it would have been so much worse. I bet without much trouble you could fab a air diverted by a side mirror to force air onto you.

Also, if you do have AC and don't want to run it at cost. Rolling down a big hill off the gas, the car will enter deceleration fuel cut off and run the A/C at no cost to anything except momentum, which you may not want if you're approaching a red light or stop sign.

Oh! Wing windows! I have almost forgotten how gloriously helpful those are. It's a shame they've been abandoned. That's "progress" for ya.
