You could also look at a front air dam, I made one for my S10 and it helped out.

One other thing that concerns me is if you happen to be in an accident or hit a pedestrian in the road or anything similar and your car is examined, could you not be held accountable because your tyre pressures are far above the manufacturer's recommendation?

I think we need to find definitive tests on tyre pressures and their effect on safety.

Yes, and if your window tint is a little darker than spec or the radio was turned up too loud or the tires were not the size recommended for the vehicle or the gas was higher octane than recommended or the exhaust was aftermarket or the seats have been changed out or you don't have a passenger side mirror or or or .......

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone being ticketed or held liable for any accident for having too much air in their tires. And who says what is too much over recommended?

Tire pressure?

Thanks to all who have replied to my question. Lots of good info to think about.
Based on what you guys have said I think I'll try adding 5 psi as the present tires are fairly wide. Next set of tires will be narrower so I'll be able to add more pressure without worrying about uneven wear. I will be adding an air dam and hope that will help the mpg.
