Tire Purchase Decision ???
I am in need of tires for my 04 Prius. Prius chat forum is full of posts about LLR and OEM. One thing is for sure price vary from low $60 uninstalled per tire to the high side of $110 . Understand all new tires will require breakin time. Also if you have a brand you like on this vechicle type and had good results please post appropiately
04 Prius
Michelin Destiny tire size 185/65 TR 15 (current tire)
$620 (4tires)replace price of above tire at Discount Tire (not locally stocked)3/4 day turn time
$500 (4tires)cooper tire 80000 mile

The mount/balance costs $19-20 per wheel
thanks to all

texas look at the ecopia bridgestone/firestone it was #2 in the low rolling resistance tire comparison on tirerack.com . they scored high on wet traction tests also and are priced right as well.i think they used prius in the test,,worth a look.

The light weight wheel can give benefits in roadholding and handling because of the reduced unsprung mass of the wheel assembly. This means the wheel needs less energy to move in response to bumps, so improving the ride and keeping the tyre in contact with the road surface for a greater time. However this benefit can be lost if the wheel is bigger than the standard, or the suspension is stiffened from standard.
