It depends on your driving, your gearing, and how much power your engine has. If your drive the freeway at 75 BUT your rpm's are low at that speed and you have very little power to spare left (is the car still responsive in top gear at your highest speed), then bigger tires will increase your top gear to be taller than ideal and you may need to downshift out of your top gear more often. Manny newer cars have very tall overdrive gears that don't run the rpm's up until you exceed 80 mph. If that is the case, your gearing is ideal and you probably don't want to mess with it.
If, however, your RPM's run high at your top cursing speed and your car feels peppy and responsive to throttle as a result, you should benefit from larger diameter tires. The added weight and height will be outweighed by the RMP reduction. If you have a transmission with 5 speeds or more, the taller gearing will be an even greater benefit.
Most of time time for most cars, bigger is better.
