I didn't read the article, but I can clearly tell when I've worn the tires to the metal belt. The car is more prone to hydroplane a couple years before that. I'd hate to be bugged by a sensor a couple years prior to that.

Agreed... like printer cartridges... warning you that it's time to buy when "only" 25% is left... and then preventing the printer from printing when 10% is left... I'd like to use the damn things until there's NONE left if I want to, thank you very much!
