You mean the PG&E that got approval to raise rates to perform repairs, didn't, and then caused a forest fire?
That PG&E?
Whose fault was that?

On the global warming post someone linked an article about how only 25% of pge power line right of ways were properly cut back.
If you can't keep enough people hired on to do basic maintenance that's poor upper management.

Food industry try to make people eat more, way more they need, to get higher profits selling food or industrial food, despite healths risks as obesity, diabetes etc...
Vehicles industry try to make people use more cars, have more cars, or just bigger cars (more expensive to manufacture) to get higher profit, despite polution, climates problems etc... Bigger cars it's the new fashion, and some people have a bit selfish feeling about it, since a bigger car will destry more the other cars (if smaller) and suffer less damage or have a bit less danger to driver. So people try to get a bigger car destroy the other, maybe in a freudian point of view.
Where it will end?? In cars like this?
This "Titanic Automotive Complex"...
The need to feel huge like if that could gave a sense of importance.

Synergy. It isn't one problem that brings down an airliner. Same with California.

In sixty years, California will have clean air, and will be inhabited by 100 million vegan hippies.
Then it will finally slide into the ocean.

How much of this could be explained by saying that people who make poor decisions are more likely to buy larger vehicles, and then continue to make poor decisions while driving? *Please ignore my current vehicle*
Personally I think I drive most aggressively in smaller cars, then more defensive as braking distance increases. However, in even smaller vehicles, I found I had a hard time enjoying riding motorcycles on the street, because everyone is trying to kill you.

For the 1980 Los Angeles Olympic Games,it was reported that the Russian teams trained by running through burned-out forests, while breathing through old junkyard mufflers.
Aeroflot landed at LAX during noon, using an IFR approach,as the cockpit crew could not make out the ground from the aircraft.
Souvenir shops sold foreign visitors postcards from 1900,as these were the only ones they could find with blue skies.
Concessionaires sold special event vanilla ice cream cones. When asked about their brown patina, customers were told that this was L.A.'s festive, signature,'inversion layer' look.
