I'm neither wealthy or as finantial-cautious I wish I was, but I've done the math a few times and didn't buy a car on many opportunities when I could've done a not-so-bad deal. To eventually address some actual necessity for a motor vehicle, even though motorcycles have been out of question due to my bad knees, I've considered getting one and either bolt it to a side-car or convert into a tricycle as those options would be enough to haul my dog and some luggage plus one or two eventual passengers if need arised. Actually even considered adding an electric motor to the side-car wheel in order to provide reversing and eventually additional traction while riding off-road.

Figuring out what is such happy medium, and how to reach it, is the hardest deal.

Around here theives and kidnapers aren't much of a problem. I've seen where the rich do spend way more on certain things like their vehicles. But unless you saw them next to their brand new 1 ton luxury pickup that they obviously never use as a pickup, which is only one of several at their 8 million dollar home, you'd never guess they were rich.

Beyond Zero; aiming for anything above zero? Lofty marketing goals. I can just envision the boardroom pitch. “Better than nothing. No, beyond nothing. No, beyond zero”. Meeting adjourned.
You think cars will get normal names ever again, or are we doomed to retarded letter/number combinations for eternity?

I don't mind driving an R2D2 as long as I can call her "Betsy."
It kind of reminds me of Windows 1, 2, 3, 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10.

Slow?
Grandfather passed a few years ago and left behind a pristine S10 ZR2. It's grandmother's now, and she doesn't drive.
He bought a Colorado right before he died, and that's sitting too.
Guess he was a GM man, though he very nearly bought a Nissan Juke. We went to the dealership to check them out. He liked quirky things and almost bought a Honda Ridgeline too. I never could talk him into an EV even though he never drove more than 30 miles in a day.

I also used to be favorable to GM too, even though nowadays I'd not disconsider some Jap stuff too. Regarding the Juke, it reminds me the proportions of beach-buggies somehow.
