Just to add some dollar figures to the issue...

The combined EPA ratings, according to Bloomberg, are 20 mpg (US) for the V6 and 22 for the four cylinder.

Based on 15,000 miles/ year and gas at $2.75 / US gallon:

$ 2063 / yr to run the V6 (750 gal)
$ 1875 to run the 4-cyl (681 gal)
$ 188 annual difference
$ 940 difference over 5 years

At $3.75/gal:

$ 2813 / yr to run the V6 (750 gal)
$ 2557 to run the 4-cyl (681 gal)
$ 256 annual difference
$ 1280 difference over 5 years
