It seems the single wheel idea only works on a vehicle that leans into a turn (motorcycle) not one that leans out of the turn (a four wheeler) OK, if I have to have two wheels, I may as well fair them in, and put them in the clean air at the very rear of the trailer. I know this adds back some of the drag I've been working to remove, but SOME improvement is better than NO improvement. The wheel fairings and struts can be made as aerodynamic as possible.

The question is — is it worth the pain?

Seriously, google "motorcycle wobbles" and click on any video that comes up.

When the tow vehicle leans to the outside and the single wheel rides up on it's sidewall, you want a wide-based hinge line to absorb the torque.

OTOH truncate the boat tail to 70% length and dump the hinges and wheels completely. You'd be ahead.

You could use an RC helicopter gyro as the controller to actuate your servos / solenoids. Another option for applying Force to the trailer through the shaft would be a worm drive, such as found in a rack and pinion another source for parts would be an angle grinder.

ASV how much tq do you figuer the 50-200lbs device will apply? Acording to the chart 1.5-1.75 geo metros on 1' lever to bend/ yield a 1480 u-joint.

Someone suggested reducing the length to 70% and making it an attached boat tail. Again, I'd have to have the bottom raise-able to 30 degrees from the horizontal to avoid scraping on ramps, or, the car, itself, would have to raise in the rear. Might be easier to install hydraulics on the rear suspension, and keep the 2.8 degree bottom on the boat tail. The rear of the car need not be raised to 30 degrees, only a percentage of that. Could the suspension be raised fast enough to avoid creek crossing dips in the road? Would I have to activate the raising manually, or could some kind of range finder be hooked up to sense the road below, and raise the rear quickly enough.

OR, I could raise the boat tail out of the way for dips and ramps.
