Very low-geared and with a really underpowered engine, some of the early Unimogs are closer to a farm tractor than to something really roadworthy. But they're cool anyway.

Mine was a 1962 404 but engine *swaped to an UNUSED never had a mile on her before swap vegie loving 617 turbo 5cyl. I got around 12mpg on mostly waste fuels.

*along with NOS Tranny, and axles, modified clutch throw out setup (more efficient) and a whole lot more due dadds the Previous German owner (nanotech engineer) had come up with. Im miss her badly. She was ugly but underneath.. a beast

Those old Unimogs are kinda funny-looking, but not actually ugly.
