This is the first new one that I have seen in a while and the only one that I have found on AutoTrader: Cars for Sale: 2002 Honda Civic HX Coupe in PEORIA, AZ 85382: Coupe Details - 347644130 - AutoTrader.com

177,000 miles on a 2,002, without a specified price--from a dealership!

Quote:
$499 dealer documentary fee
Never again. I just renewed my registration for $132.93 for five years. Forget that!

I kind of want to sell Bacon, give the money to my dad, and drive his F150. It gets abysmal mileage and is a pain to park, but it is just sitting. If Dad hardly drives it while he pays off the loan, it will still be a high-mileage truck.

I guess that is not a very good idea. Dad would not be able to afford to pay me back and I cannot afford to take over payments.

Anyway, I am still receiving notifications on HXes. Here is one with 219,000 miles for $1,950--from a dealership, apparently!

This last HX keeps showing up. I love it when dealerships keep posting the same car, day after day, or even multiple times in the same day. At least this one shows the capacity to use lower case.

I wonder how much one could negotiate down on a car that has sat on the lot for over a week and a half.

KBB for Excellent condition is: $2,079. Something happened to the rear bumper and "Has AC, but not cold" does not inspire confidence. Isn't a not-cold AC just a vent?!

There are eight pictures showing the outside and the front seat. Everything looks fine but the rear bumper:

I have been out of town, but apparently, they reduced the price to $1750, but especially since I am driving back from California, I am not eager to drive without cruise control!

That last ad has now been up over three weeks and someone just posted on another one, which never had AC.

No.

Someone just posted a 2,002 HX for $3,400:

the only bad thing about this car its that it is a restored salvage
Oh, restored! That makes everything better!

Someone posted an HX with all of the wrong modifications done to it for $4,000, and this beauty just came up:

The $1750 one is still up, but they have been saying "Trade only" for a week or two.

I am pretty sure that I have posted more than two HXes here. I just do not want keep bothering everyone with new threads.

On the twelfth, some guy posted his girlfriend's automatic HX for $3,100: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/4063973439.html

Today (the fourteenth), he reposted it for $2,600.

CVT. Enough said.

Oh yes, he says that it gets 45 MPG. According to fueleconomy.gov:
[manual transmissions]
1996 33/41
1997 31/39
1998 30/39
1999 30/38
2000 30/39
2001 31/39
2002 31/40

Weird how that varied. Someone mentioned that the first-year Civic hybrid had lean burn. It looks like it was 2003-5 (38/45) and after that, they have been CVT-only (40/45).

The 1996 CVT? 30/35.

Someone trying to selling something lied?!

Heh. The real point was this:

Does it look like she hired her kid brother to repaint the front of the driver's door?

I really hope you find what you're looking for! I remember doing the same thing for 6 months till i found what i wanted. It was worth it. I would'nt get hung up about epa ratings between different years on the same "model." As long as it lean burns and has a manual, you can average far higher mpg than the epa estimates.

Yes 1st gen HCH both CVT and MT had leanburn. Can't say for sure but CA model did not have lean burn on any transmission option. If it has an ULEV sticker it lean burns. SULEV does not.

How do you get notifications on hx's for sale?

My only advice is to broaden your search for other models too. That and go see any nearby cars and do test drives. Some items not on the checklist, you find you can live with.

I use List-Alert.com. I guess that I will put in one for Prii, but that really sounds like a waste of time. I do not know how to sort out the overpriced newer ones from the overpriced older ones.

Heh. I limited it to $1000 and $3,500 and it showed two salvage Prii. Honestly, I think that someone could make one good Prius out of them, but that person will not be me.
