Ultracote, easy grill block?

Anyone tried using Ultracote or Monocote on their car? I build RC airplanes and use this to cover the wings, fuselage, etc. Its an iron on plastic. Its extremely light, durable, fuel proof, etc.

Looking at my corolla, it looks like the grill can come off in a manner of minutes. I'm considering buying a roll of ultracote, stretching and sealing it over my grill, and reinstalling. Should be simple, cheap, and easily removable if needed. Rc planes going well over 100mph have no issues.

Aside from the grill, this could easily seal gaps or other areas of the car, added aero framework, etc. It is available in many colors, including clear. Might be good for sealing open headlights.

This article has tensile strengths, puncture resistance, etc, pretty much everything you need to know about the technical details of the material.

Sounds like a good idea to me. A few guys have used vinyl which is pretty close to the same thing.

Block Complete!

Gave it a shot, here's how it looks. Easy, removeable, and looks good.

That's a brilliant idea, it looks good in the photo. Do you buy ultracote from model shops? As a bonus, you can just wipe the grille clean easily.
Thanks for the idea.

Thought I should post an update. The grill block is still holding just fine. It doesn't however look as good as day 1. I've noticed that the changing temperature has wrinkled it. If I run the iron over it again it smooths right out, but the change in temp seems to wrinkle again... Not a super big deal, I'm just kind of picky about the looks!

- bugs dirt, rocks etc have not punctured the material, holding strong.

I had thought about your idea some time ago since my brother and I were into RC gliders and power planes as teens. But I wasn't sure how well this would stick to a front bumper. This deserves a second look!
