Underbody panelling & exhaust

As of now, I'm ready to start moving on with modifications on my car. I've already done an upper grill block, air dam, wheel covers and rear wheel skirts. Next, I am looking at the underside of my car. I have made all of my modifications with coroplast, and I want to continue to use it on the underside. My question is how I should handle the heat generated by the exhaust. Obviously, I don't want to melt through the coroplast, but I still want to cover the exhaust as it is aerodynamically "dirty." I have heard of people using crushed aluminum cans between the coroplast and exhaust, but will this work? What other ways could I handle this? Thanks.

Wouldn't a layer of foil work?

You could use a wire mesh screen for covering the exhaust parts. Enough to dissipate the heat and somewhat still aerodynamic at higher speeds.

I use crushed cans. Works great and it's free. Otherwise you might look into fiberglass insulation, or as Mr. Buck said, heat-reflecting foil.

what about some silicone cookware. I see a lot of them in thrift shops and dollar Stores.

Sven7, so crushed cans does work? I figured the cans might get hot and melt the plastic. I'm pretty familiar with your car thread, but I can't remember. Do you use crushed cans with your undertray, and if so, how did you attach them?

I just poked holes halfway down the cans and zip tied them to the belly pan right under the muffler. No fires yet

you crush them flat or straight down like a can crusher does?

I used aluminum flashing from Home Depot/Lowes to protect my Coroplast on my belly pans (engine bay and main belly). Ended up buying a big roll...20"x50'.
