Although highly unlikely, something in the Unicorn Corral could escape into the real world if it were to be proven viable... proven being the key word.

And it isn't up to us to prove it either, although we might throw in our two cents.

Heh. That's why I'm not tinkering with explosives in my garage.

I'll cheerfully scratch HHO from that sentiment and substitute anything else. HHO, wood gas, biodiesel, the mechanics of it don't matter to me. People are working on various methods. The auto industry is focusing on electricity as portable power, and doing quite nicely with it.

But give people time. Refinements can come.

There is that special brand of unicorn, the Do not try this at home category.

If I remember my chemistry, I think you could do better with a hydrogen/fluorine mixture. Of course fluorine, in addition to being quite poisonous, corrodes most materials, so experimenting with it might result in a few Darwin Awards.

No need to go that deadly... Anything over 100% lethal is overkill.

But, but, but... Making bigger, more lethal bangs is the whole point! I mean, it's like horsepower, isn't it? Of course you want your pickup to be able to tow a 747, even if the biggest load you'll ever haul is a few bags of groceries :-)

PS: Then there's hydrogen/chlorine mixtures, which have the interesting property of exploding when exposed to light...

Very true. It is just that when it happens, we ecomodders would prefer not to be associated with it.
The oil barrel was an economy contraption, very bad.
When we want this all to do some good we better focus on other properties. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Your ricer runs nicer on a barrel of HHO.
Coal rolls fine on hydrogen chlorine (if they think it rhymes we have the right demographic profile).
Hydrogen fluorine turns your Hummer into a true killer.
That kind of stuff.
All for the good cause. Save the children, be nice to pets, world peace now, etc.
