Very Old Newbe/Wannabe Here, Ola Ya-all

Hi Members,
I am an older disabled guy (65 disability fixed income) who has recently been infected by a new obsession that I share with many of you, the metro eco bug is in my blood and brain. This all started when i stumbled across the XFI about a year and a half ago. I found this website last winter and after reading many XFI posts, decided that, I WANT THE XFI CAM MOD for my 1995 2DHB!
I have been watching since February for reasonably priced camshafts that I could have reground to XFI specs. Well it turns out that the camshafts are not jumping out of the woodwork at me and needless to say finding a real XFI camshaft would take even longer and probably cost more than the regrind. So recently I find on Craigslist two of them with two new struts. Now I have two to work with. YIPPEE! I hope one goes out this week for regrind
Mechanically I am not a total retard, in my youth I rebuilt WV engines that worked very hard to use in the bus.

Enough for now, you all will be hearing from me, lurking days are over.

Thank You For Your Time And Patient Understanding,

Wayne Rich Carrollton Texas

Welcome to the site Wayne. What kind of mileage are you currently getting with your Metro?

Daox,

I have had the 1995 2DHB almost a year.

As soon as I purchased it went on a 3000 mile 2 week highway trip.

The very best I have seen was once and 48 MPG, highway no A/C.

During the winter highway/city 50/50 mix very steady low 40's 41/42 MPG.

In the summer again 50/50 very steady 34/38 MPG that is with the A/C.

The car is totally stock, I make no changes without a very good reason.

I love my metro. It gives me the freedom to roam.

My previous primary transportation is a 1985 Ford F150 super cab 13 MPG.

The truck was driven 1200 miles a year due to the high fuel costs for me.

Thank You For Your Interest,

Wayne
