Thanks, KITT!

Here are a few more details in case anyone is thinking of doing this, too. First I drilled through the thin shell of the acorn-style lugnuts.

Then I was able to convince 10-24 lock nuts down past the threads of the lugnuts, and I threaded in a screw/jam nut/washer combo into the lock nuts. To hold the locknut inside the lugnut, I had to jam in one jaw of a needle nose plier while I threaded it in. Then I snugged down the jam nut so it looked like this;

Next I smeared that nasty silver anti-seize stuff all over the threads of the lugnuts and the threads of the 10-24 screws that were poking above the locknuts. Then I poured in some J-B Weld thinned with acetone and let them cure for 24 hours.

Kinda fiddly and tedious, but it worked.
I also got some vinyl tubing from Lowes and slit it. I put this around the perimeter of the pizza pans so it won't chaffe my alloys.

Heads up, the tubing will come off over tme. Mine happened on the makanaw bridge. They made a racket as they Wendy. Thump on every revelution. I tried gluing thembon but that did not hold. I found that 2" chunks worked better.

Idea to prevent the tubing from coming off: Get something like a large rubber band, or even just tape, and stretch it across the cover in multiple spots, so the band helps hold the tubing on. That way the tubing won't eventually be thrown off via centrifugal force.

Then they will come off faster.idealy we.need to coat the edges in plastic. Tubing is cheep but not a full.circle.it has a seam. Which fails.

Thanks for the heads-up, Weather. I've got the seam glued with clear silicone, but I'll keep an eye on 'em.They're pinched pretty good between the pan and the wheel...so far so good. If they do come undone, maybe Plasti Dip would work, instead.

I don't think so. I'd probably use black. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I thought the screws held them on?

The screws hold the pizza pan on, but the tubing is just slid over the edge of the pan. the tubing will end up coming off.
