Visor or Aero Feature?

Saw this on the Peterbilt website and wondered about the visor. Looks like it may have some deflector functionality? The nearly vertical position intrigued me -- and though these may have been around for a while, it caught my attention for the first time.

Is this intended as an aero improvement or is it totally unrelated?

Truck drivers want external visors. Truck manufacturers are stuck putting external visors on their trucks, so try to make the drag penalty as small as possible.

I agree, but they have been very crafty and fooled the traditionalists.

Many of the European Cabin Over Engine racing trucks have these corner features.

Even futuristic concepts incorporate the visors at times, the one below looks like it is retractable if you go to the original source and zoom in.

Porsche will design truck cabs for Scania!

EDIT: More racing trucks.

I'm still trying to get a better image of this VW "Constellation" race truck, that thing on the roof looks interesting.

Turntable view of the same VW "Formula Truck".
