If this coasting option (engine on or off) will be offered in the US, then how does this relate to coasting (in or out of gear) being illegal in certain states?

You guys should also check out the "Exterior styling kit" that Volvo is selling for their new V40.

Here is what they say about it : To further improve your relationship with natural forces such as the wind, we recommend this Exterior Styling Kit. It includes side deflectors, rear deflectors and a rear diffuser including double end pipes that allow the air to slip off the body more easily. Together with the roof spoiler and aerodynamic wheels, this helps reduce your air resistance and CO2 emissions. But perhaps even more important: this will make your V40 even harder to resist. Sure you can live with that?

VW Group isn't stopping at VW: coasting Porsche 911 !

That's right !

The Porsche 911 Carrerra 4 with automatic double clutch will be coasting as well when you get off the gas.

It also decouples the front wheels (as it's normally a 4WD) when it senses you're not pushing the car and riding sensibly.
