Civic VX Rattle/Hesitation Issues

Hey guys,
So I haven't had my VX for very long and I'm in the process of cleaning it up and changing out bad parts. Recently, I've had the timing belt and water pump replaced. The timing belt I think was put on too tight and is causing a sort of whirling noise, but I can have that adjusted. Before either of these two parts were replaced though, I've had an issue with a rattle that comes on in 1st gear after 1500 rpms and 2nd gear after 2000 rpms. I do have a bad input shaft bearing that I will get fixed soon, but could it be the input shaft bearing that is making the noise in 1st and 2nd gear? The input shaft bearing does make a noise when my foot is off the clutch at idle. But when I rev the engine at idle it doesn't make the rattle noise I hear when I'm driving. I have posted a video on Youtube demonstrating the sound. Also, I've noticed that when I shift into 2nd gear and if I floor it, it'll start hesitating for a good 3 seconds and then continue on. I've also included a clip of this. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

No sure I can hear the rattle, but you might want to try some seafoam to clean up intake and such to see if the hestitation is just gunk piling up. The VX is pretty sensitive.

poi-boi,

Did you ever get your hesitation problem figured out? I'm on my 3rd tank of PD Blaster fuel cleaner. I did change my alternator because I had an open diode, it did help. This is the first alternator I ever changed in a Honda & quite a few had over 200,000 miles on the clock.

So I still could have a bad TPS on an O2 sensor right. I do not have a CEL. Again, I have no hesitation or stumble in 1st or 2nd gear at any temp. In a diesel they would call it dead pedal.

Thanks,
Dave

Also I've read that I could need my EGR valve ports cleaned out. Where would I get a gasket after I take it apart?

Thanks,
Dave

local auto parts store or Honda Dealer, it's not an expensive gasket.

Cool. I thought it may be a dealer part only.

How did you learn so much about these VX's?

By getting my hands dirty with all the Hondas I have ever owned

Specifically on my VX, I've taken everything apart on that car except for the dash. and I do mean everything, even taken off a big chunk of the rear quarter panel, lol. I've taken apart the dash on other Hondas I've owned though.

And having access to the FSM and OBD Manual and other online links that are very helpful

I'm going to be doing the rear quarter -panels on mine as well. I'm not afraid of the mechanical things. The electrical is a little intimidating.

Any pix of you panel rebuild?

Dave

Sorry no pics as I wanted to get it done as fast as possible and it was inside a shop during most of the work.
