What to do with a Yanmar diesel?
I managed to score something at an auction that I have no idea what to do with. Its a 6500 watt Eagle genset, powered by a 10hp Yanmar aircooled diesel. Or I should say hopefully powered by one, as I have no idea if it runs. And if it runs, I have no idea if the generator part is functional. I got it cheap enough that I am not too worried about it working, but then I got to thinking, what could a guy do with the diesel mill if the generator didn't work? Hmmm, diesel ATV? Diesel motorbike? Can anyone give me a link to something cool they have seen with one of these engines in it?

personally, id go for the motorcycle idea, definitely raise some eyebrows when you fill up or sit at a light.

Use the generator part for wind power.
I also like the motorbike conversion idea,putting the diesel into a broken down free or dirt cheap motorbike.

Oh I like that one Metro! The bike/atv idea seemed like fun until I realized that I don't think a small diesel like that is really "throttle-able" which being a word I probably just made up, means that I think it either runs at idle or full speed.

WHOA! Thanks Diesel_Dave, those are some cool bikes! Will my Yanmar have an adjustable throttle on it? Or will it be like a non-Frito Lay truck BT4 and only run at certain RPMs?
As for what I paid, lets just say it cost less then a full tank of gas in my Tahoe. Before I sold the Tahoe anyway lol. Hopefully it runs!

Metro's idea is just so right. Any electric car owner could throw that in the trunk/ under the hood. 6000 watts is a lot of juice.

If it's anything like my 4 HP Kubota, it will have a governor like a tractor or lawnmower.
