Chevy limited all the output on their EVs because the batteries typically get really warm with high amperage outputs so no high speeds homies, and people complained that the cars ate tires since they had too much torque *see the laughable 2011 Chevy Spark with 400lb-ft of torque lol*

Dumping power from a lithium battery at about a 2.5C rate shouldn't heat it that much.
Unless the internal circuits can't take it.
I charge my LiFePO4 batteries at a 2 to 3 charge rate and they barely put off any heat.

During the bulk charge phase, the batteries don't heat up much. Its when you want to get that last 10% out that things start getting warm. I would imagine internal resistance goes up as the battery gets more full. EVTV tested this out a couple years back with some CALB grey cells charging at some pretty high rate, 5C or so ? I forget exactly.

Discharging, they never really got warm/hot from what I've heard.

Who drives over 90MPH?

EV's are 2X as efficient as ICE's. What's not to like about that?

Electricity is twice as expensive here per kWh as gasoline.

I pay about 4.5¢ / mile to drive an EV, including regular maintenance. We have expensive electricity.

And in a month or so, that will drop to 1-2¢ / per mile; after our 10.1kW solar PV system is connected.

On a bike, I do.
For a car and bike, it needs to be able to go 120mph, if you want it to still have some sort of performance at 80mph.
That means 75HP for a bike, and 150hp for an eco sedan minimum.

I'm sure the Bolt has a ton of performance left at 89mph. It's governed at 90, it doesn't run out of power.

EDIT: The 2012 Leaf has 107HP, is governed at 93mph (150kph) and has no problems reaching it quickly. The Bolt has around twice that power.

I have some of the cheapest power in the country, that's why I'm looking to get an EV.
Tired of buying gas.

93mph? That's is sufficient.
