What to use?

Ok, so I know it's the Scanguage if I get a car that is 1996 to present, but what if I get something older then that. I'm in the market for a new car in the next few months and it's probably going to end up being a '07-'08 Toyota Yaris 2 door. However, if something goes sour, I kind of want to know where I stand as far as instrumentation for pre-OBDII cars. I know there is something for them as long as they're fuel injected cars (which it will certainly be) however, I don't know what it is or where to get it. I'm just looking for some info on what to get and where and some prices and availability as I remember it being some custom job that you had to have some guy do...

Members of this very forum are developing/testing an inexpensive MPG computer/display. Cost will be roughly $40 if you can assemble it yourself, following the instructions. It's not ready for prime time yet, but testing is happening.

Great, thanks for the link.

I think for now I'll stick to getting a scanguage, but I'm a very avid OpenSource user so this is something I'll definitely be keeping my eye on.
