Mistakes, should have kept 81 Datsun longer and not bought the Dakota or CRX, S10 and Tahoe. Should have bought another Sentra right away and skipped the Sunbird. Should have kept the Explorer 10 years longer and never bought the Montero or Suburban. Sold the Saturn & Sentra at about 200,000 miles, should have driven them longer.

1967 Chevelle Malibu 2 HT loud Porsche green (darker shade than '70 Cuda green ) 283 4spd. Had built to 292 w dual Holley 600's on tunnel ram.
Radical Isky cam, 12-1 TRW pistons, got 7 mpg when done. Had 7" Cragar SS's on front, 8" on back. Got 22 mpg on road trip before build.
Changed intake, and cam, just one Holly 600... now up to 11-12mpg. Sold in '74 due to gas lines at stations, odd/even day purchases only.
1965 Corvair Monza 110 4 dr. HT with powerglide. White on med. blue. Bought to save Malibu from ice storms crash potential.
Fun to drive. Did have some AT leaks.
1955 Chev. 210 2dr. post. 283 with 3 on tree. Fun to drive..near 20mpg. in mixed driving.$200.00 car.
1957 Chev. 210 2dr. post. Robin egg blue, straight. Tired 6 cyl. with 3 on tree...smoked a little, but would go anywhere if one was just easy on it.
$60.00!!! Sold 2 weeks later to woman for $110.00. She promply blew eng., wanted money back. I explained the writing sold AS IS!!!!
A million times wished I'd given back her money, and towed back to be mine again!!!
1963 Dodge 330 4dr. sedan.Curiosity purchase to see about Mopars. 318, 3 on tree. Boring but reliable.
1974 Honda CB360 Brand new with 6spd. orange tank color. Took on 5 day roadtrip down to CA. Small to cruise
at 70mph., but was motorcycle rookie then!
1962 VW bug. The best of 4 that I eventually spent time with. Bought because following Harley didn't keep
me out of the rainy winters here.
1975 Harley FX ( kick start only) 1200 Superglide. Traded the CB360 in on this. Locamotive torque said goodbye to annoying dogs!!!
1967 Pymouth Fury111 station wagon. Very nice condition..coworker at Chrysler dealer offered it as trade for the Dodge 330.
This was a 383...nice, clean, and smooth. My friend asked if Cragar's were going on this.. I smiled...no!!!
1971 Datsun 240Z...The bug wasn't cutting it for car fun. Still needed rain protection...so 1st Harley sold to help get this! Great car...added front/
rear spoilers painted to match red car, did headers, and clear covered aero headlights.
1975 Harley FX 1200 repeat. Had better job now to enjoy both!!!
1970 Chev. Chevelle SS 454 LS6, M-22 rockcrusher. Nice, smooth car, very comfortable as well. Never abused, just enjoying walking quietly with a big stick!!!
Dark green w white cowl induction striping, bench seat, NO PS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1972 Detomaso Pantera burgandy on black..351 Cleveland mid eng., ZF 5 speed...flew to IL., and drove back. Autocrossed once..2 4 barrels on high rise intake,
fairly rad cam..most of rear suspension was chromed... sold due to wanting to be $ wise toward getting married someday!!!
1955 Chev. 210 2HT less eng./trans
1964 VW Bug
1965 Olds 442 less eng/trans. $35.00 different color front clip, tarped to keep upscale neighbors happy. Lived on hill so wind somewhat frequent....
I used to laugh my head off as the rear shocks were so worn out, that the wind would rock the car up, and down!!!
1963 VW microbus: half roof length sun roof, several windows along the sides, and VERY funky handling in any cross wind!
1955 Ford F100: Bright nice chrome yellow, nice wood on bed, very straight, American mags, had 383 Mopar w auto...$400.00
1932 Ford 5 window coupe body: was stolen out of storage yard.
1955 Chev. fiberglass front clip: stolen like above.
1963 Chev. Nova 2 HT: Dad gave it to me; 194 tired 6 w PG, tan on tan/gray... bracket raced it for a few weeks on Wed, nights, towed a '57 Chev. with it
nearly 50 miles one way.
1957 Chev. Belair 2 HT: black on black, set up for factory 4 speed., less eng./trans. one fairly small dent in front fender; a great find for only
$200.00 long about 1975.
1960 Chev. sedan delivery: orange on black, kind of tired, with slight rust, but fun to drive around with 283, and 3 on tree.
1975 Honda ST 90: small on/off road mini motorcycle, great mpg but tiny!
1973? Kawasaki 175 Enduro...rode 95% on roads instead of trails
1975 Yamaha RD350: Tomato soup color, had Basanni's on it; was ultimate wheelie machine sometimes when unexpected. Wonderful rush in powerband!!!!
1964 Chev. Corvette roadster: almost lost job over this car...Bought for $600.00 in '76 less eng./trans/rearend...ugly gray primer with tired
interior, no top at all, tarped in storage yard. Advertised in Nickel Ads for my purchase price...I worked at a bank service center, used that phone #.
in ad...5 lines the service center phone receptionist had... on a Friday she answered "sold" on 5 lines jammed all day long...I was fortunate not to
get fired!!!
1958 Edsel Bermuda station wagon: a non running free gift from a high school friend (see ugly looking cars you have owned thread)... nice robin egg blue
w fake wood...Burmuda was top of the line like a Country Squire... had 361 eng. with push button auto
1955 Chev. 2dr. post less eng./trans. terrible shade of yellow, but very cheap..never did anything with it.
1972 Honda AZ 600 coupe: blue with black interior in very nice condition...got 55mpg commuting about 35 miles one way with it. Sold later due to about
getting married..and to move from OR. to NC., and had still too many other vehicles.
1961 Chev. Impala 2HT. Light blue, straight, very clean, even had traditional colored flames on front end. Only $200.00, but found out why as trouble
getting home with cracked block on the 283. A keeper anyway, but too many vehicles already, so almost gave away to guy working at gas station I was stranded at!
1969 Ford F250 long bed: 360 with real truck 4spd. great tow rig when gas was cheap enough 11mpg. towing was no big deal.
1974 Honda CB 450: great bike! Same year orange pattern as first CB360... rode from OR. all the way to Texas, and back. High seat height was great for my
long legs at 6 4".
1971 Datsun 510 2dr. Almost Army green w black interior. Topped out at about 37mpg for me. Enjoyed using on time-distance rally's. Placed in top
3 positions in the newbie class with a different navagator each time. Best ever was 5th overall in a rally that had a class for Equipped which meant
they could have any kind of computer or devices in their cars that they wanted. I went bumperless, hubcapless, and had a front spoiler painted to
match the car. Great car!!!
1981 or 1982 Honda MB5 (50cc) sportbike: bright red, with real trans., and suspension. Fun, but tiny..makes my back ache now just to think of how hard
I struggled to ride tucked for best mpg. Didn't keep track, but sure well over 100mpg.
1967 VW bug:dark blue, stock. Was expecting this to be my best one due to 12V system, but ended up having weird electrical problems that even a VW
independant shop couldn't cure. Sold after owning for only about 1 1/2 months.!!!!
1970 Ford Torino 2 HT NW special edition. Bold blue on black, factory flat black hood...stock had 351 Cleveland. When I bought, a former owner had put
in a 302. Drove cross country from OR. to TN., and back getting 19 mpg at 55 mph.
1965 Ford Galaxie 4dr. HT. After hitchhiking cross country at 21 years old, I was tired, and wanted to drive home. I bought this from my cousin who
was in the DC area ( Maryland) who loaned me gas money to get home. Dark blue, 390... got 24mpg at 40mph cruising speed on bald tires. As this was
circa 1975, I don't remember anybody angry at my slow cruising speed; people were much more tolerant drivers it seemed then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1983 Custom built low slung 18 foot open car trailer. I repeatly told builder I only wanted $1,000.00 in this trailer. Apparently. he thought I meant that in
materials. Trailer done, bill for $2,600.!!!! Gulp!!! Had to do credit card! Also had to move out of apartment, put everything in storage, so I could pay this
off fast!
1972 Ford Country Squire wagon. Red with fake wood, a pig on gas. I lived in this most of winter to pay off above trailer.
another 1972 Detomaso Pantera: again burgundy color, no high rise this time, but still fairly rad cam. Both Pantera's roughly returned about 9mpg. A book I read stated that 23mpg was possible from a stone stocker!!! Flew to Miami to see this car in the middle of a paint job. Bought, had it shipped north to low cost mini
storage garage in south GA. Needed clutch work, non running then. Was reason I had above trailer built. Waited for May weather to proceed on vacation through WYO.
cross country with '69 F250/trailer to bring home. (no suitable possible marriage partner had surfaced, so I missed my 1st Pan!!) I really couldn't afford to
have a car like this, and really enjoy it much. Living in cars, eating lots of peanut butter, scraping along for the dream!!!
1981 Honda CB400: Bought new as a 3 year old leftover at very reduced price in '84. Was silver, with earlier Seattle Seahawk blue, and green tank accents. (like
their helmets) After breakin, rode from OR. to NC., and back during August. 6 minutes of rain the whole trip. Didn't bother putting on raingear: so much heat
after the rain..dryness happened fast! WYO. was chilly both directions. Even at 65 degrees, after hours of riding w/o a windsheild, the body chills.
1966 Plymouth Belvedere 2 HT. 318, auto..plain bench seat. Light greeny blue! Had to have front suspension rebuilt. Very reliable.
1965 Ford Mustang 200 6 w 3spd. manual on floor. Dark blue. Was rare car with 13 inch tires/wheels. Got 30 mpg at 55mph. Took with friend from Portland
area down to Long Beach, CA., and back to see Formula 1 race!!!
1968 Chev. Camaro: Plain V8 model 327, auto on floor..Red on black with black vinyl roof, not perfect , but only $500.00 in '83ish.
1969 Chev. Camaro: also plain V8 model, but had factory yellow, black stripes w correct rear spoiler... right front fender was dented, needed replacing,
car was non running w 350 auto. only $600. Hated to sell, but had too many cars, things were getting stripped/stolen, and I couldn't afford to keep my
collection w/o basically ruining my life.
This list is not in perfect order, as I have forgotten, and then remembered some of these cars.
1967 Chev. Chevelle SS 2HT 396, 4 speed, black on black, 8 inch deep Cragar SS's in front, 10"'ers on the back. Very straight pretty car.
1965 Chev. Impala SS 2HT someone put a later 307 in it...had PG on floor in console. black on black. Clean, and straight. bought for wedding/honeymoon
pictures in prep for move for that life in NC. Black cars hard to keep clean!!!
1980ish? 26' Wells Cargo enclosed car trailer: black w victory black/white tile pattern on floor...did a great job of moving me from OR. to NC.
1965 Chev. Impala 4dr. sedan: 283, PG. ...reliable, could get 18mpg. with ...white on dark green.
1976 Pontiac Astre (Vega near look alike!) Red with white stripes: Clean body found in wrecking yard. Was converted to a 350 V8 w 350 auto.
Was hoping to beat above Impala with mpg. but only tied at 18mpg. The Impala was more comfortable to ride in.
1976 Honda Accord They were much smaller then. Aqua blue on blue 5spd. 35mpg. Loved it, but had head gasket trouble.
1971 Chev. 1/2 ton PU: Hugger orange, no rust...350 V8, with 3 on tree. Was able to get 15mpg. flat towing a '65 Buick Skylark 2 HT from OR. to NC.
(Skylark not listed as was purchased for EX.)
1992 Dodge Daktota Sport: Short bed, 4 cyl. with 5spd. Only 4 wheeled vehicle I ever bought NEW! Used in courier job, around 300 total miles a day
5 days a week. Up to 37mpg. with flush fit canopy (camper top) in warmer weather.
1976 Ford Econoline 150 White on dark green Chateau version. 351 Windsor w auto. Strong backup vehicle for courier work. Very comfortable with
Captain's seats.... if one WANTED to pay for more fuel used, this rig could easily cruise effortlessly at 80mph. all day! I did get 11.5 mpg.
flat towing Dakota behind it from NC. back to Pac. NW when marriage ended.
1967 Ford Fairlane 4 dr. sedan: Beige on gray..289V8 w auto. Had big ugly dent in driver's side rear quarter panel, but drove fine. Bought very
cheap, like $200. Took to a tire shop, to have a better used tire put on. Surprised!!! The shop felt sorry for me as if I were a homeless person or something;
did not charge me anything for the work...Except for that dent, the rest of car was straight, and rust free!!!! In 1985 I guess some viewed as TOTAL
BEATER!!!!
1965 Ford Mustang 2HT coupe, not FB. Bluegreen on blue interior 170 or 200 six w 3 spd. manual on floor. Rare car...had 13" tires/wheels.
Got 30mpg. at 55mph. going to see F1 race down to Long Beach, CA. and back with a buddy traveling with me.
1977 Buick Skyhawk 2dr Fastback: Light blue w V6, 4spd. manual Put moon discs on it for Bonneville look. Took on trip from OR. to WYO.
and back...low 20's mpg. wise.
1980 Marauder 35' park model travel trailer: lived in for 16 years.
1978 Ford Fiesta: white on black, ALL were 4spd. manuals... got 49mpg on heavily loaded trip from OR. to Glacier National Park, and back.
Very good reliable car..the ergo not so great for my size in ALL DAY driving mode.
1965 Buick Special station wagon. Bought good body out of impound yard after viewing it broke down 2 weeks prior on I-205 bridge between
Vancouver, and Portland. White on red.. non runner..couldn't get fixed cheap so gave up. Had 300V8 w auto.
Yamaha XS?? 650 twin? total beater that I bought from my then boss for $100. Had been tarped, sitting in his backyard for 2+years.
Got it started, proceeded 1 time forward about 30 feet. The front wheel was bent, wobblied ugly...gave the THING away!!!
1981 Chev. 1/2 ton ugly yellowish ex state used truck...350 w manual trans. had the grossist sewer grate grille. Felt lead to buy to help
single father of 3 who had vehicle issues.
1972 Honda AZ 600 coupe in TOTAL basketcase form!
1977 Chev. Suburban Nice blue color, with gold accent on alum. trim. 350V8 with auto. Very nice, and straight for only $400. as a dealer's
special of the week. around 2001 or 2002.
1978 Kawasaki KL250 Enduro 100-116 mpg.
1975ish Honda CB 125 Nice, but above 250 frame better for my height...mpg's about the same!!!
1984 Pontiac Fiero SE 4 cyl. w manual 4 spd. white on tan/gray 32mpg at 55mpg.
1983 Honda Silverwing GL650 Interstate: (673cc really) Burgandy with much after market chrome, huge rear bumper bar with several lights on it!
Took on trip to AZ. and back, another to CA., and back. Had AM/FM/Cassette/CB which I removed after purchase not wanting the weight, or the
distractions. Later, I removed that bumper bar w lights for same reasons.
1981 Honda CB400 A repeat of an earlier one I bought new. This was black with 6speed. VERY reliable bike. Put bikini fairing on it.
Bought back Silverwing above...(before I took the 2 trips on it!)
1985/1986 Pontiac Fiero...base model w auto. Guy who bought '77 Suburban couldn't finish paying with cash, so this came along. Very short ownership
as a friend wanted it.
1972 FordF100 long bed. Aqua blueish. Not a smart purchase due to eng. condition. Bad choice!!!
1977 Datsun B210 hatchback: dark blue on blue.. manual 4 spd. near 50 mpg. Bought originally as a missionary type project to act as loaner car
for church family when they had car trouble.
1982 VW Quantum staion wagon: silver on blue Diesel 5 speed manual. Great trip car...got mid to high 50's mpg. on road trips, never below 46mpg
commuting, got 32mpg towing bolt together 4X8 trailer with 250 Enduro, and bicycle on it with car loaded for camping trip in hilly mountainess
terrain. Used on 2 week 9,200 mile trip from OR. to Halifax, NS, to south of Atlanta, GA., to AZ., and back home.
Basically blew up in driveway due to runaway idle I didn't stop in time before hearing rods knocking. Got $600. for clean body with great Toyo's
but should have kept due to rarity!
1984 Mustang convertible White on red, dead 302 with auto on floor. Project idea that didn't pan out, no money invested at least!
1959 Bluebird schoolbus (should have been listed way earlier) Had 394 Olds gas V8with semi auto trans. Was a fairly crude as I bought it
motorhome! 35' long.
1972 VW Superbeetle Redish orange on black. Project: got it running from the dead. Thought this new a one would handle reasonably well: it
drove as if it had a goat cart suspension. The points would not stay open...it left me on the side of the road at least twice. Original idea
was to unbolt body, and make up a more aero light weight something, but as the body was straight, and the suspension yukky to me, was delighted
to sell!!!
1987 Honda CRX: Was just starting to build an airdam for the front of the bumperless B210 with Moon discs, when I found the CRX. Had wanted a
1st. Gen. for years, when the CRX first came out I had my good AZ600, but knew a CRX was way better. White on medium blue. Literally, the
best car I have ever owned. Never below 42mpg., my record is 62.9 thus far in stock condition except for pass. seat being out for highest figure.
Go cart handling, have taken it to WYO/Mont. and back about 4-5 times, has been to Mt. Rushmore, Edmonton/Calgary, Colorado, the Grand Canyon,etc...
1983 Honda Silverwing GL 650 (673) Interstate. 2nd one here...1st developed alternator issues requiring motor removal. I skipped that by finding
this almost plain unchromed in comparison one for less than proposed estimate fixing 1st one. Feels so much lighter!!! This one IS silver colored!!!
2006 Bolt together 8X4 Cargo trailer...had fun assembling this...great for motorcycle transport!
1985 Chev. Suburban: Red on red K10 with manual locking hubs...6.2 Diesel with auto..great tow rig that can get up to almost 30mpg. Very happy; proud
to own even if I don't use it 99% of the time!
1975 Chev. Monza fastback: Was originally a V8 car, but a previous owner put an Isuzu Diesel in it. ('69-79 vintage) Had a 5spd. manual. Nice icy blue
on black, body overall in wonderful condition. Had unknown oil pumping out of oil filler tube issue. Got great mpg what little I drove it.
Sold to help a business idea.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Came VERY CLOSE to buying a '32 Chev., a '50 Ford Crestliner, a '68 Dodge Charger, (too rough) and a '69 Chev. Camaro Z28. (I couldn't finance
due to existing amount of loan still going on 1st Pantera) $312.00 a month in 1976!!!!)
Always have liked 1964 Chev. Impala SS with the neat exterior engine turned body trim, but haven't got there yet!
Have sat in, and contemplated owning an early 1st Gen. Mercury Capri, and the classic Opel GT.!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In stark comparison to me; this is my non car guy younger brother's list:
1974 VW Dasher station wagon: Robin egg blue on black. Was a manual 4 spd. as I taught him how to shift earlier.
1983 VW Jetta Sedan: Burgandy on black, 5 spd. manual, had weird electrical issues as rain water would leak into fuse box
unless he changed the angle of degree of parked car in a certain way!
1989 Toyota Camry 5 spd. manual. Color unknown because at time we lived on opposite coasts almost; he wrecked it!
1989 Toyota Corolla 4 dr. Light silvery blue on medium blue. 4 cyl. 5 spd. manual...he kept this for several years until
when recently 2012, the motor gave up???
1997 Honda Accord White on gray, first automatic for him. Bought as a cheap short term car to use to think about what he really wants!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most fun other non owned cars I've ever driven:
1969 Plymouth Roadrunner: Blue on black stick car. Got to drive while a parts driver for a Chyrsler/Plymouth/International dealer.
1968 Plymouth Barracuda: gas station job; delivered to customer's home.
1964 Jaguar XKE Coupe. The 4 speed shifted like butter as I delivered this also to a local customer's home.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Previously mentioned as a remark concerning my earlier post about the time needed to gather in mind all of this 70+ list; I wanted to state that several of the earlier
vehicles were bought, and kept maybe a month or two. Thusly, shocks, tires, tuneups, or even oil changes were not needed.
Just out of high school, my parents divorced, leaving me in shock. Instead of skiing, getting a pilot's license, dating EXPENSIVE women, I experimented owning different body
styles, etc.., which I thought was better than doing drugs or something!!!!

PS.!!!! Forgot present 1984 VW Quantum wagon. Now in storage...a replacement for the earlier '82. Same body style, same exterior silver, but this is a Wolfsburg edition with black interior. It has a dead Audi 5cyl. gas mtor with a 5 speed manual waiting for me to do
a diesel swap. Already titled as a diesel, have a line on a motor, just need some income first!!!
