If you're paying into the Social Security system, then so long as the Republic Union stands, there is a floor in the low five figures a year. If you can subsist on that any excess is mad money.

That's my plan, going on a decade and a half. The thing that made it work is I live in a $900 house.

I'd gladly do my part to secure social security by forfeiting all of my payments up until now with the provision that I no longer have to pay into it. That's half my working years they can have for free. Probably a pretty good deal for them considering life expectancy will probably be 100 years old by the time I reach retirement age.

I wouldn't count on life expectancy going up that high any time soon. Adult life expectancy hasn't really changed in hundreds of years. Centuries ago there was a higher mortality rate at or before birth or during early childhood and now that we have modern medicine, plus the new way of not counting stillbirths or abortions as deaths, has lead to life expectancy numbers artificially inflating.

Lots of room for medicine to improve. Heck, if it just adopted analytics like advertising has, outcomes would be much improved. Medical error is something like the 4th biggest cause of death in the US.

The technology developed in the covid vaccine has a lot of potential in other applications.

We've just scratched the surface of CRISPR and figuring out what genes do.

Plenty of opportunity for mechanical solutions for organ replacement.

I hadn't thought about this in a while so I went to duckduckgo.com/?q=Elizabeth+Parrish+BioViva&iar=news&ia=news, and there is this one story 42 days old:

futurism.com: MYSTERIOUS BIOTECH STARTUP GAVE ANTI-AGING GENE THERAPY TO DEMENTIA PATIENTS

...it says in all caps. Dr. Parrish has always said there's a need to go offshore for less regulatory oversight.

Then there's Aubrey_de_Grey

If $1 million plopped into my lap today I would invest it in VTTVX (Target 2025 retirement) 7.34% return since inception included two major recessions. That is because I'm 2 years from target retirement.

Earlier in life with a longer investment horizon it would be VTI.

70% of my savings is currently in VTI. Got a late start at the end of Sept, but still rode some of the crazy gains up.

Very long term I don't think the stock market can be sustainable, but it probably will for at least the rest of my lifetime.

Coke and hookers

- of course not
Just wanted to throw something in out of character.

I would hope I would help someone in need, but more than likely would become what I currently lothe, and become a greedy, self serving turd.
I'd die hating myself.

If I had one million dollars to spend in any way I wanted, the first thing I would do would be buying a country estate where I could plant and raise livestock, and a compact truck. The remaining of the money I would invest.
