Wheel cover idea 2 - your favorite wheel look, dirt cheap.
I think this would be fantastic, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
I see all the ideas of people using polished metal, fibreglass or even clear to see their nice new alloys.
What if you could get thin plastic film circles with a picture of your favorite wheels on them, these could be glued/bonded to your hubcap mounting, and if they were done in a matt finish, you would have to get up pretty close to realise they were two dimensional only.
They would be quite discrete, look just like a normal car, and not to mention cleaning, just a quick wipe with a damp cloth and your "alloys" would look new again.
I want to do something like this, but do not have access to the appropriate equipment to do the large print on a suitable base.
Any ideas, cheap print on that corrugated plastic stuff they use for realestate signs maybe???

I've been thinking of doing that for my aluminum pizza pans. Except, instead of being discreet, I was thinking of being overt. I would like to do the old TEAC cassette tape spindle :

Ha ha, here's a cool one, the 45 RPM insert :

Carlos, I like your thinking! Old reel to reel tape pattern on the wheel covers would be awesome!!
I see another project based on a 'borrowed' Carlos idea coming up...

Hmmm...Photography business...Photography Van...
I'm thinking something that looks like the old 110 Film...
Add some vehicle wrap graphics to the black plastic piece that runs between the tires to make it look like a film strip and a film canister label. Yes, it would be "twisting" the film cartridge and using both a side view and a top view, and possibly a bottom view (for the film), but it would be too obscure with just the side view since it's all black. Yeah, I can do this now and make it look cool and be an asset for my business! Great idea!
As for how to do it, any company that does vehicle wraps or vehicle graphics should be able to print what you want/need and attach it to the pizza pans. Might not be cheap (in relative terms), but shouldn't be too expensive either.

I think that any kind of paint that adheres to plastic or metal in a robust fashion will do the trick. I think plastic is easier to paint.
Maybe you could also find some butch plastic sheeting with adhesive back that would get you the same effect. I wonder if R/C plane sheets have adhesive backings?
You could also do strobe patterns :

OK, so I don't know if this is cheap enough. Build a Sign. 12" by 24" are about $9 each 6 mil vinyl and very sticky.
You'd need to cut it up yourself.

It would be great to print them in not a wheel pattern, but an empty hub and brake disc, so it looks like your car has no wheels.
Also, for Carlos
I am planning on painting shapes onto the wheel covers of the Anal Probe in the second phase of dazzle camo.

Now we are getting somewhere, have you used this vinyl stuff before?,
as per your image, I assume that is 2 wheels per sheet, = $4.50 per wheel
I just sent them an email to get a reccomendation for the application.
Not sure of some of the ideas re freaky patterns or no wheels look, but, hey each to there own.
Can anyone better $4.50/wheel?
