Which is why off-the-shelf is better. Or take something like the Tata or Piaggio 400-800cc motors and turbocharge them instead of frankensteining something and dealing with a lot of expensive custom-made prts like cranks, cams and etcetera.

A diesel trike, that I would love.
The idea is that Frankensteining one should be feesable...shouldn't have to machine anything... There's about 4 laying about at work I'm tempted to waste one to try

I've already spotted an Amazonas in my neighborhood. But it's too heavy for a 4-cyl 1600cc bike.

I am very favorable to veg oils as a fuel, since it can be produced with lower energy consumption and requires less materials than biodiesel. Even my cousins from Rosário do Sul (some 150km away from the border with Uruguay) could become self-sufficient on fuel.

We are seeing more people experimenting with vegetable oil too. Some filter the waste oil from restaurants. It may prove more effective than distilling ethanol. One farmer was asking about using plant oil in his tractor and he replied that it ran fine but smelled like a cooking skillet.

Free vegi oil from the back of a restaurant is a thing of the past. Reclaiming companies now are buying it from the owners who used to give it away but now keep it locked up.

At least in my country it's still way cheaper than regular Diesel fuel

You don't pay road taxes if you buy in the grocery store?

In my POS of a country, taxes on fuel are not structured around road use. For that matter there are other taxes and fees on vehicle annual registration...

Actually, you can buy that already in Europe...

Correction ... you COULD buy it for some time, now out of production.

Track 800 CDI, powered by Smart Diesel engine.
140 mpg, 102 mph top speed, still quite expensive however.

As I am new to the forum, I can't post links yet, but google for "Track 800 cdi review"

However, in my opinion, electric engines would be the better (and possibly easier) choice for eco-friendly motorbike propulsion...

Best regards,
Andy

Electric motors tend to be more accepted in scooters than in motorcycles. And due to their extra storage space it might be easier to fit the batteries into.
