One last bit to think on, at least in my mind, is the idea that there are tens of thousands of people out there that cannot mentally fit themselves into a vehicle that is economical and small in size. The American habit of "bigger = better" has screwed up a lot more than just the design and sale of an automobile. Look at how many times a Ford Excursion or Chevy Suburban is seen driving into town with a single suit inside... or when they do actually get the 2nd person and run in the HOV lane, why dont they fill the other 5 to 7 seats inside that vehicle???? tsk tsk. Sadly, until folks are smacked around and realize that it is actually better to be in the smaller vehicles, they will still buy the monsters of metal and waste.
