window shopping for rain bike

Was thinking of a bike w big enough eng. to cruise effortlessly at 55mph,
that maybe has more alum. parts as not to rust much in constant rain use.

Prefer NOT a chain, need high seat (6'4" with very long legs)

Prefer 1 of 4 Japanese brands, must be dirt cheap like used '80's bikes are priced now. want good mpg too!

Yep! Want the cake, and eat it too!

Ideas???

I'd recommend an old 250 scooter with a windshield. I bought an '87 Honda Elite 250 for about $800 back in 2003 to get to college classes and stuff. It got 65mpg no matter how I rode it. I used to jam down the freeway in the ran, ducked in behind the windshield, with a mug of coffee in one hand since I didn't have to work a clutch. :P So much fun!!

The other good thing about a scooter is you can talk on the phone with your other hand and hold the handlebar with your knee, just like a car.

Rain bike,,,, You are a glutton for punishment. I used to do it.

A 87 Virago 700 or larger can be had cheap. Very solidly built and good low end power. I get 50 mpg with my 700 and it can go 110 if in a hurry.

Oh it has a pretty low seat but the foot pegs are out front some.

I have put on some Metzler tires and can drag the undercarriage without drama.
