Thinking cvt needs a bit more heat this should be the other way. lol

-8f when I left this morning, unheated, uninsulated, and a little drafty garage. Car read +10f when I started it.

Yeah, the car keeps a lot of residual heat when it's inside. It's not warm, but it starts out a lot less cold.

Some men would actually get a car with air-cooled engine instead
Jokes apart, even though the 2CV and the Beetle didn't require either a heated garage or any other special care to prevent their cooling system to get damaged while parked outside in the winter, rough idling right after the first start of the day has always been a PITA with a Beetle.

Not noticed any appreciable change in FE from my 2013 ZenN 50 cc-honestly i'm not sure if it's because I keep Boat Gas (93 Octane 0% Ethanol) in the tank or because I only have a 0.75 quart oil resevoir (fast heating as a result). Then again, the 1.2 gallon tank might not be large enough to show the tablespoon or so difference. :P
At any rate, 130 MPG, slightly variable(extra cargo, old vs new oil etc) whether hot or cold.
The one exception is the rare occasion that we have ice/snow in Coastal NC. Little Wing does not like the ice one bit. In those rare periods her FE shoots through the roof-because I will carpool instead.

Might be due to the absence of ethanol, since it doesn't absorb moisture with the same intensity and thus is likely to vaporize easier even when it's extremely cold.

Good point actually-any Coastal Ecomodders using non-ethanol gasoline with similar results?
It could also be that her Aero is as bad as it can get. Little Wing's current wheelbase is too short for any Vetter-style Ecomods (no room to recline at all) but if she ever stops being my 35 MPH Daily Driver i'll lengthen the wheelbase and start 'modding.

Mine has dived below 40 mpg Imp, so I've gone for a full grille block and a coolant pre heater. I may also look at insulating some coolant pipes.

The past 2 weeks have been way colder than normal here in NJ below freezing temp and a "bomb blizzard" hitting last Thursday. Cold temps logged my lowest avg to date and then I filled up again after the snow and logged another worst MPG with my wagon. I don't know how you guys in the frozen north do well in the winter and this weather is really killing my MPG morale lol.

All right, I promised, now I deliver.
Warm Air Intake on the 2010 Insight. I haven't tried it out yet but her ScanGauge was seeing 8°C or so when it's been about -2°C outside.
And I did the same for my 2000 Insight, although this only does half the airflow. The 2000 Insight has two air intake ports, one from the resonator on the left there and one where this vent is attached that goes directly to the outside down by the front bumper. I'm seeing IAT temperatures about 6°C higher than before, reading 17°C or 18°C on my OBDIIC&C gauge now instead of 12°C or so that I'd seen before.
