Winter mpg's vs summer mpg's

How much does winter effect your mpg? rest of you are heading for summer while here in the southern half winter is approaching. but winter here is nothing like most of you. the coldest it gets here is about 10 deg Celsius or 50F. Summer temps are 15 to 20 deg C warmer or between 75 to 90 F. How much will this decrease my fuel consumption? car has no block heaters or grill blocks yet. also winter is fairly dry here it only rains towards the September.

Speaking for Australia, I find my best economy comes in winter, no A/C use= win

I do have a bit more grill blocked, but the mudflaps go back on. My little 1.6 carries up to 800kg, so even in winter I can't do too much of a grill block. My big idea is to use mirrors (since it's cold but usually sunny) to warm up the coolant in the mornings.

My average tanks suffer around 10mpg in the winter. Cold starts + Cold Air + rain and snow on the road=

Shouldn't be much of a difference with such a small seasonal temperature variation.

Where I live temperatures fluctuate between 5 and 35 degrees celsius, resulting in a 15% change in fuel economy. It is so much easier to do well in Summer. The car coasts much farther, no water on the road to push through, less wind, etc, etc...

Luckily the OP doesn't have to worry about the EPA in South Africa.

The coldest month of a slightly colder than normal winter had an average temperature of slightly below zero Fahrenheit. Typical summer daily temperatures are around 80 deg F, and the hottest days are in the 90's.

My sig line and gas log show the results.

In the states, we have a winter and summer blend of gas. Everything else being equal, I lose about 10% mpg during the winter months.

this is the South African specs for my car vs international specs
ford fiesta 1.4i 5-door (r/cd+ac) 2003-11 - Car Specs - Ford Fiesta Specifications - Information on Ford cars and Fiesta specs for vehicles
the figures seem quite high but in line with what the car gets in the hands of the wife. that's what my signature is based on.

here is the international specs for my car http://www.autoevolution.com/cars/fo...-doors-2002-14
I havnt found anyone else on this forum with the same car to compare. they started selling the model after this one in the states.

anyways hope you guys in the north enjoy your summer, low mpg's and cheap petrol! (here petrol price is going to rise again putting it at $1.10 USD per litre or $4.22 per gallon converted)
