Oof! Lil' Red hit by construction!

Just topped up today after a few days of bad construction-related traffic jams. My average over the last 90+ miles was 21!!!

I need to find a better commuting route.

I like the scanguage idea, but it would take a lot for the additional gas savings to make up for the purchase price... Then again I am really pretty cheap

I now think my 34.5 mpg was bogus... revised fuel log

I've been traking my fuel carefully using the fuel log. I now think my original reported 34.5 mpg was bogus. I don't think that first tank of gas in my fuel log was correct (not topped up accurately), so I've shifted 1.0 gallons of the next tank into the log entry for the first tank. The updated mpg's are:

Code:
1st: 31.57 mpg, 365.6 miles
2nd: 27.43 mpg, 95.14 miles
3rd: 29.27 mpg, 351.5 miles
4th: 29.20 mpg, 280.6 miles
5th: 31.13 mpg, 248.7 miles
6th: 31.24 mpg, 403.0 miles (Yes!)
I'm still quite pleased that I'm achieving 30+ mpg. But now when I fill up, I pause a bit after the first fuel shut-off 'click', and slowly fill until I get a second click. I think the pump clicked off prematurely on that first logged fillup.

Sorry if I mislead anyone.

Congrats on the goal. I do that too for filling up where I let it stop once, wait a few seconds then pump again until it stops.

Hmm I've always been a 1-click man...man just thinking about it, basing all this off of some dang fuel pump's auto shutoff doesn't seem that dare-I-say accurate. Does anyone know how those work?

Found something: HowStuffWorks "How does a gasoline pump at a filling station know when the tank"

Ooh there's a hole in the tip...hmm....

Are you using the same gas station?

KJSatz: Yes, usually I use the same station. Probably just a freak thing. It will be more consistent with the two-click method now.
