Me too. It gives me a Porsche 914 feeling, except safer and faster.

It's also .75 the size of the ForTwo.

I'd drive the forfour if I could get it for less than $15k. I'm looking for a car to replace my truck and I want to reclaim as much garage space as possible for our motorcycles while having the best mileage as a DD and having at least 4 doors and 4 seats for our planned family. Other considerations have been the Fit, Civic hybrid, and the scion that was just mentioned here might be my new front runner. I think a fit hybrid would be perfect though.

As for safety, my personal belief is that stopping distance is the single biggest variable and the smart fortwo is great at stopping with four wheel brakes and such a low mass. The faster you stop, the slower you're going when you do hit something. This is precisely why I would feel much safer in a fortwo than my motorcycle, much larger contact patch with the road which equals more friction. Obviously, I still drive the motorcycle, but that is because I believe in the power of defensive driving.

Contact patch?

Motorcycles stop quicker than cars. WAY quicker.

You know that.

Is that when you use their crush zone? After modulating the brakes to prevent a stoppie, instead of a slide?
