WTB: 5 Speed Insight

Hello Ecomodders!

Long time no see.

I recently saw a Honda Insight for sale in Maryland.

Even with a blown transmission, I thought it was appealing as I've been wanting one since at least 2008 and I was going to go through with it.

By the time I decided to purchase it it had sold and I'm having trouble finding another.

So I thought I would put a feeler here:

Looking for a 5 speed Honda Insight. Transmission issues OK. Prefer a good body. I'm OK having to grid charge the battery as well.

I'm in WV, near Pittsburgh.

Yes I realize this is probably the worse possible time to come looking.

Oh well.

Do the body go bad from age? I thought they were aluminum so rust isn't much of an issue even in rust belt states.

Clear coat peels but most old cars have cosmetics or outright body damage

I've got one I'm probably going to have to give up.

It'll run about a week between grid charges, but the battery is pretty close to dying (OEM cells from 2000!).

Transmission has no grind (replaced with a 58k mile junkyard unit about 20k miles ago, but it's weirdly stiff going into 4th. I think one of the ball detents is frozen up from sitting at the junkyard. 4th is useless anyway).

Equipped with an OBDIIC&C, Scott's upgraded springs, the aluminum under tray, hardwired retepsnikrep IMAC&C, and an old school basic grid charger, and an under-seat sub/amp setup.

The clearcoat on top is trashed though.

Clear coat and battery issues is OK with me.

I expected it based on ones I've seen for sale.

I'll shoot a PM.
