Yaris hybrid news

I found this article the other day on toyotanation. Looks like Europe will get the next generation Yaris as an optional hybrid, and the US will get the non-hybrid version. However, there is still the FT-CH hybrid concept that is being talked about actually going to production (which I'd loooove to see). Actually, I don't care what they call it or what it really looks like. I just want to see a car smaller than the Prius and one that gets better mileage (with 4 doors, or at least seats 4).

I'd love to see another Hybrid in Toyota's lineup, lower on the price structure. While I can make the payments on a $25k car, I'm not going to for what I see available on the market.

It's kind of frustrating to see most of the other countries getting the higher FE vehicles and we get the deluxe cupholder editions, since everyone knows North Americans don't care about FE.

That looks like a humpbacked mule - new drivetrain hidden under the old bodywork.

It sits very low going by these pics.

It does look odd. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it's actually a mule in old Yaris clothing.

Regardless, all I can say is: I'd be happy to see another smaller, efficient car on the market. Let's keep the corportate fuel economy competition going.
