Question yet another spoiler question...

i have a 94 nissan sentra 4dr that i am making into my DD/hypermiler.
I have a question concerning a spoiler.
I would like to know what affects positive or negative adding a thin flat rear spoiler would have? I have tried to find a pic of one for reference but haven't so far if i do ill post one up.
any feedback would be much appreciated.
TIA

couldnt find one like i was lookin for so i paint shopped one...

the red would be a really rough idea of what im talking about

depends on how it's mounted, if it is flush mounted to the trunk lid it may help in separation of the air from the back of the car, if it's elevated it will likely hurt airflow (if it does anything at all)

If it allows airflow to reattach, and then produces a clean detatchment over the smaller area of the back of the car (rather than having the combined area of the back of the trunk and rear window under detatched flow), then it should help.

I guess this is why A-B-A is so important. Too many non-linear effects to accurately predict, even with some pretty serious computing power.

Fortunately, a flat coroplast spoiler would be easy to make and tape to the trunk for testing.

When I made mine, I didn't notice any difference in fuel economy. Then again, tank-to-tank averages are one of the worst ways to measure smaller changes.

I discovered that they're designed for creating downforce with minimal drag expense. The spoiler I made kept bending down, even bending the supports. When I strengthened those, the deck of the spoiler bent.

TOOQIKK -

We've speculated about these :

But we haven't proved them to work, as AeroModder can attest.
