BotRide is here! A pilot program available on November 4, SoCal customers who sign up can hail an EV Hyundai Kona with the smartphone app. The algorithms can pick up multiple riders to share the ride. The app directs riders designated pickup and drop off sites. The pilot program will have two operators; one on the steering wheel, brake and accelerator pedals, watching the driving operations, and another in the passenger seat monitoring the AI operating systems. Quite interesting to say the least. But anyway, whenever I see anything regarding autonomous vehicles, the first thing that comes through my mind is the need for some sort of human override interface. Since nowadays the kids are so overly attached to their phones, it wouldn't really surprise me if some "autonomous" car eventually gets to feature some app which would allow the use of a phone or tablet as some sort of remote control.
