If I don't blend lots of ethanol I have not problem beating hwy EPA, but that percent helps the Micra as the gallons different burned goes down, so gas prices would have to be same % higher. I'd need $8+ to get Mirage to break even. I kind of prefer the Mirage, but 79? vs 109 hp (previous 1990 sentra owner same 12 valve engine?) HP's fun. I'd go Micra, lower initail cost will reduce taxes and registration as based on MSRP and insurance. And I have 4 Nissan dealers within 85 miles, only 2 Mitsu.

Again, I'd bet you a lift ticket at Camp Fortune that GM and Mitsu will respond with lower prices / fewer options / financing deals. They'll have to do something or they might as well kiss most of their sales good-bye.

The last $10k MSRP car I remember in Canada was a stripped down previous generation (2005-2011) Hyundai Accent 2-door hatchback. I remember GM offering rebates on the Aveo to match it.

I spotted a red Nissan Micra, just like in the picture in the first post, in Southern tier New York USA. It may have been on the other side of the highway, though I can guarantee it was a Nissan and not a Versa Note. Probably from Canada.

Yeah, likely from Canada. They've sold about 7000 of them since they launched it this year, the majority of those in NY's neighbouring provinces of Ontario & Quebec. Likely someone on a road trip!

The car has done well for Nissan Canada, but I'm not convinced there's a business case for selling it in the US, given the success of the "cheapest car in the USA" Versa sedan, which continues to dominate its segment. Nissan USA sells more Versas each month than Nissan Canada sells Micras for an entire year!
