2016 Toyota Prius (photos, specifications, Cd 0.24)

Is this the 2016 Prius?

Is this the next Toyota Prius? | New and Used Car Reviews, Research & Automotive-Industry News & LeftLaneNews

The car with the black grill is apparently the plugin model, which may have a electric range of ~30 miles.

I am still digesting this design. The engine is claimed to be 40% efficient (up from 38% of the current Prius), which is great. We hopefully will know more soon.

Jalopnik also posted those pictures. They also google translated a document that showed a ~7.5-8% increase in fuel efficiency on the Japansese test cycle. It also showed 10-15 more horsepower.

Is This The 2016 Toyota Prius?

That's too ugly. I doubt they'll release it that way in overseas markets.

I never underestimate the capacity of Jap automakers to make ugly econoboxes. In this case, they took ugly to a higher level...

It reminds me of the FCV Concept...

As I predicted!

Toned down hugely, it still bears some of the style.

Looking at the 2015 Toyota Avensis for example, the blue Prius could be considered production ready. The green one however is horrible.

Yay for increased efficiency.

But...

It's so ugly it's going to drive up prices in the used market for previous generation Prii! Just my luck.
