The car doesn't look any worse than other new cars.
The latest style are those odd front grills right now.

The pic looks like the rear roofline area might taper inward, maybe just an illusion.

I doubt either of those are what it will look like; these look like somebody's "wish list" drawing, and it's pretty clear they started with a picture of the current Prius.

For example, look at the mirrors in the drawings:

...and compare to the 2015 Prius' mirrors:

Both test mules--the earlier version and the hasty redesign--have mirrors with stalks that attach on the window, not door panel:

(First prototype, allegedly scrapped because the design wasn't "sporty" enough)

(Second prototype)

The overall shape of the drawings isn't anywhere close to the same as the prototype, either, especially the top of the rear window, but also backlight angle, front and rear overhang, max camber point on the roof, and shape of the hatch and bumper cover.

Its to hide the details of the car before the design is officially released (resulting in threads like this). Sometimes they use black and white swirl patterns to camouflage the lines instead.

That test mule looks much better than those drawings.

I honestly don't mind the drawings all that much. They do make me wonder what the Prius V will look like.

Actually, now would be the time to buy a new, 2015 Prius...low gas prices, an aging design (with all the kinks, safety recalls, and bugs worked out already), and dealers trying to clear inventory before the new car arrives, you can get a screaming deal. TrueCar says you could pick one up in my area for $19,800--more than $5,000 below MSRP.

It wouldn't be much of a winter beater, though.

I think the value of my winter beater 2004 Prius just went up.
