What are they gonna call that wind-vent pillar? The " ½A " piller.

Last edited by gone-ot; 08-23-2015 at 05:53 PM.. Reason: corrected "piller" to "pillar"

I was really hoping they would go with a face more like the Corolla's.

More pictures here.

I also get the impression they're trying to make it look less "hatchback-y". Like the 2016 Volt.

Toyota's pre-release 'marketing' reminds me of a burlesque dance show (wink, wink)

If you know what I mean, take a little off here, a little off there, but NEVER everything off (ha,ha)!

This really makes me wonder what the first design looked like, the one Akio Toyoda allegedly hated and sent the designers back to try again, delaying this new model. Wouldn't it be awful if that one was a normal-looking, attractive, functional design while what we get stuck with in production is this mish-mash of random creases and inexplicable lines?

This render appeared some time back; someone grafted a modified Corolla front end on a 3rd-gen Prius body and fixed some of the details, like the mirrors, to match up with the camouflaged prototypes (this was back when they were testing the first iteration, which had a roof shape more like the current car). I thought the result looked fantastic, and now it only makes the actual car more disappointing.

Also, here's an interesting exercise--the streamlining template overlaid on 3rd-gen and 4th-gen Prius:

Max camber point has been moved forward to the B pillar, it looks like, and the rear glass angle is significantly shallower.

Which is it? Toyota mimicing the GM Volt...or...GM minicing the GenIV Prius?

If the Japs were mimicking the Volt, the Prius would actually look better. Anyway, just like the Corolla has different versions around the world, including a narrow-body one targetted to Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and the JDM station-wagon which is also available in New Zealand, why couldn't Toyota make different bodystyles for the Prius to suit different markets and design preferences? What might look appealing to a Southeast Asian might eventually be deemed odd for a Western, for example.
