How much did it set you back, all in ?
I've been thinking about getting one for my sister, but the postage was as much as the cover itself !

I did look at blocking the bottom grill from behind but wondered how deept the grill has to be to make a difference if the opening is blocked from behind

So some weight reduction, the spare wheel and jack kit

Quote:
given that the spare is actually a full size item why is it rated as only suitable for 80 km/h ?
Probably made to lower standards than regular wheels.
Is the tyre itself some special temporary tyre ?

My second issue is how to support the spare wheel cover (piece of ply) when there is no wheel underneath ?
Is there no covering over the spare wheel well ?

Tyres are up at 45 which makes most glides much better than before but the ride quality has suffered - stuff that didn't rattle before now does, including my fillings.
Probably down to the stiffer suspension on the VRS.
With my softer suspension and 45psi, the ride is harder, but it's not rattling stuff.

yep thats why I asked for money and waited. To the UK it was 48 Eur - no idea on GBP, thats in the hands of Paypal as yet, but I think maybe ~45GBP.

Nope, pretty good actually - Michelin Primacy - looks unused, the wheel is identical to my neighbour's Golf IV - 16 inch.

Only the thin piece of ply. If I put anything on it, it falls through into the wheel well and bends. Before it was empty then it sat on top of the tyre.

Also probably down to the DPO and his choice of oversize wheel and lower profile tyre too. If I go over 40-ish PSI there is also a fair amount of tramlining (following white lines), with a lower pressure there isn't but less of a glide effect. I need to find a compromise somewhere.

Quick question to anyone who is watching - Intake temps.

I noted that after my super-block has been fitted that the intake temps are higher. Outside temp here at the moment is about 2-5 Deg C but with my new intake the temps are about 10-15. My Tape-o-Board one had a slit just ahead of the engine intake in the front slam panel but this one doesn't.

Should I worry about this and maybe drill some holes to encourage flow ?

Interested in your Fabia mods since I am starting my physical mods to my Fabia 1.4TDi. How do you measure your intake temps?

Have you thought about a rear undertray; my car is pretty smooth up to the fuel tank but aft of that I think a panel would tidy it up no end. Maybe with a diffuser

Also planning a rear spoiler a la Greenline fabia and extending the plastic tabs in front of all the wheels.

Hi,

The SG2 has an intake temp setting which I use to keep an eye on it.

I'm thinking of adding some small holes to let cooler air into the intake which is in the slam panel just to the left (from the drivers seat) of the badge on mine. From what I've read the engine likes to be warm but have cold air coming in.

I was sitting stuck in traffic (2 hours to get home last night due to accident - its 14 miles...) and the intake temp got up to nealy 25. I suspect the radiator is having an effect there. My next mod may be a shield just behind the grill to restrict hot air rising from the radiator when stopped.

That 1.4 will be a superb eco-machine.

I've thought about the underside but whenever I take a look it does seem quite good. The rear bumper is kind of parachute like but the wheelarches on mine are filled more than usual because of the DPO big wheels. The bumper is different on the VRS too although I don't think it is significantly different.

Do you mean the tabs under the front bumper ? Interesting. Mine just match the width of the wheels but the front bumper extends quite a way under the front.

I'll watch your mods with interest

I've driven my sisters 1.4TDi Fabia at 2.2L/100 km @ 44mph

Given the blunt rear of the Fabia (hatch or combi) a diffuser would add drag.

Stealing ideas from the dedicated eco versions seems to work.
I'm also doing that.

I have my full front blocked at the moment and no intercooler there. If weather is same+2-5 celsius my intake temperatures are between 40-65 celsius on speed between 80-120km/h. That is not hi at all. My engine temps still odnt rise to where they should be if temperatures are -15 celsius or more... On summer with intercooler on and hole for it temperatures were +10-20 celsius above out temperatures. I would say dont drill holes to that piece even in summer.

I attempted to put the Mk1 Fabia through the Flow Illustrator program here with and without the rear spoiler.

Not super scientific but I decided to concentrate on the blunt end plunging through the air issue before looking at the 'spill' issues.

Note - these terms may be bollox.

New slight issue, idle seems higher than it was before. Usually when warm Helga would plod away at about 900 rpm but it seems to have settled at 950-1000 since the new block went on. Wondering whether to try without it for a while.
