Finally broke 30 MPG in the truck!
I have no idea how I did it, but my last tank of gas on the Chevy S10 was over 30 MPG!

I think I have been doing more engine off while coasting downhill and turning off the engine at stop lights. I am sure the temperatures have a lot to do with it as well.
I thought I was going to have to lower the truck or make a belly pan or something before I would break 30.
I guess I really have slowed down a bit on the freeways too. I pretty much never go over 55 anymore!

Good job. I had a 98 S-10, reg cab, 4 cyl 5 spd, all that jazz. Got about 29 mpg, dropped it 2" and got right at 30 mpg. Put wider tires and heavy steel wheels on it and got 28 mpg .

Great work, congrats! These compact trucks seem to do pretty well at the hypermiling game. I just filled up Josie this morning and nearly spat out my teeth when I did the math:
37.58mpg!
That nearly matches my best ever, and that time I had over 300 miles of slow steady cruising to work in - this was commuting.
It almost makes me wonder what I can really achieve if I do all the other alteration type stuff...

And I thought 29 out of my Ranger was good. I don't think I could drive 55 in this truck the DOHC has to have some rev's to get any torque.

Curious but If you're driving 55 what do you need a lot of torque for?
