(mini) skirts on my wheels

These are sorta temporary, though they work and I think look alright. With the airdam and the skirts on a freeway drive today it felt like a different car. Mainly quieter. With pulse and glide (neutral coasting) I averaged 60mph and somewhere around 60mpg.

They look awesome! Are you going to do any A-B-A testing to see the increase in efficiency? I'd be interested to hear about that. I have considered adding rear wheel skirts, but I'm not sure how much it would help on my taurus

Thanks man! Eventually, I am sure I will test. These are a prototype. I want to improve the shape, test it, and then make them out of fiberglass or something if they are useful. I'm reading about mold-making in a prop-makers manual a dude on here recommended. I have to say though, the noise level in the wheel well area at highway speeds seems to have decreased, which is a good sign about the air not being forced through it so much.

Very clean! Don't be afraid to go full skirt, they will definately help. One thing you can use to make a full skirt more stable is to get aluminum bar from Home Depot and bolt it across the wheel well.

Once you have a finalized shape for your skirt, fiberglassing is easy. The most basic way to fiberglass it is to simply apply 3-4 layers on top of your skirt, let it harden, then sand/finish/paint. there is no need to make a complicated "mold" piece, you only need a "mold" if you plan on making multiple copies.
